empty-pride

Empty pride means a fake pride, in the sense of vainglory, unjustified by one's own achievements and actions, but sought by pretense and appeals to superficial characteristics.

You want to know my start in web designing? Well, it all started in the summer of 2007. I was on Iconator, looking at all the awesome icons. Then I thought, I bet I could make one of those! So I found a tutorial, downloaded Jasc Animation Shop, and made my first icon. And it was absolutely atrocious. But I kept at it and was able to make some decent icons. From there, I decided to make a website to post my icons and backgrounds. It was called Come Face Yourself, from the song "Attack" by 30 Seconds to Mars. It was actually, "go chase yourself," but since I'm practically deaf I heard "come face yourself." Then I started getting into HTML, and I made my first layout using Paint Shop Pro. Again, it was absolutely atrocious, but I liked it enough to use it. From there I was able to get my skills to a decent level, and my mom got me a domain for my birthday from Freewebs, called come-face-yourself.net. I didn't realize that Freewebs didn't support PHP, and layout changing was a pain in the ass. Then, I decided to get a subdomain, and Shur from voltagebox.org hosted me. That's how empty-pride came to be! I don't know where that name came from, I just randomly thought of it one day. I needed something easy to remember and interesting. I would have called it come-face-yourself again, but I was tired of the name and it was too long for me. I hope to someday have an awesome site that lots of people go to for their graphics needs. Hopefully I can get there before college. Hahaha.
